A MAIN road in Wiltshire remains closed this morning after overnight investigation work took place following a serious crash. 

The A365 Bath Road has been shut in both directions in Seend near Melksham since at least 5pm on Saturday, April 29 as emergency services, including an air ambulance, responded to the scene.

Traffic-monitoring site Inrix reports: "A365 Bath Road in both directions closed due to accident investigation work between Redstocks turn off and A361 Seend Hill.

"Following a serious accident involving a car and the motorbike which happened on Saturday afternoon, affecting traffic on the road past the Three Magpies pub between Melksham and Devizes."

Wiltshire Police's Roads Policing Unit (RPU) attended the crash just before 6pm on Saturday and confirmed that there had been a 'serious injury'

In a Tweet on the Wiltshire Specialist Operations Twitter page, the RPU said: "#RPU and the Serious Collision Investigation Team #SCIT are at scene dealing with a serious injury RTC A365 Bath Road between Melksham and Seend, the road will be closed pending the investigation."

Wiltshire Police have been approached for more information.
