Police have arrested a suspected burglar in Wiltshire after a two-year long manhunt.
A 38-year-old man was arrested in Westbury, on Tuesday, April 4, on suspicion of three counts of burglary and being in possession of stolen number plates.
He has since been recalled to prison.
His capture comes after he evaded a police manhunt for two years.
The suspect’s time on the run came to and end after he was found drinking in the Westbury Labour Club and detained by Wiltshire Police’s Fortitude Team, who were working on information provided to them by Northamptonshire Police.
A stolen car was also identified near the scene and has since been recovered to undergo examination by forensics officers.
Detective Sergeant Ted Roe praised his officers for a relentless manhunt to catch what police believe to be a “prolific offender.”
He said: “This is an excellent result which came about due to some really determined work by Fortitude officers who relentlessly followed the initial information and explored every avenue to ensure that this prolific offender is back behind bars."
