A drink driver who almost crashed into a house while trying to evade police on Christmas Day has been banned from the roads.
Michael McDonagh was spotted by an officer while carrying out an erratic three-point turn at speed on Assart Way in Chippenham.
McDonagh, of Cloately Crescent, Royal Wootton Bassett, then attempted to drive past the officer when he indicated for him to pull over.
When the officer spoke with McDonagh, the 26-year-old reversed onto the kerb behind him, almost colliding with a house, before fleeing down the road.
He then exited his vehicle and ran into a nearby house and out the back door.
A roadside breath test was carried out, and he blew 89mg per 100 millilitres of breath, well over the legal limit of 35mg.
McDonagh was arrested and later charged with drink driving, careless driving and failing to stop for police.
But while he was on bail for these offences, McDonagh was arrested a second time after failing another roadside breath test in Sutton Benger, on February 15.
He was slapped with a two-year driving ban when he appeared in court on March 15.
He has also been ordered to pay a £300 fine, £85 in costs and a £520 victim surcharge.
