A team from Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service raised over £1,000 for the county's Air Ambulance at the weekend by tackling the White Horse Challenge.
Group Managers Ian Rennie and Rob Wild, Area Manager Gus Cuthbert, Watch Manager Lance Forster, Station Manager Ade Hurren and Ian's brother Shaun Rennie covered 55 miles in the two days, on a route that started from police headquarters in Devizes and took in seven of the county's White Horses.
Saturday saw the team walk from Devizes to Marlborough via Pewsey - and a diversion to the local fire station for much needed refreshments provided by Watch Manager Merv Hampshire and his wife. Sunday's stretch took them back to Devizes from Marlborough via Broad Hinton and Cherhill.
The White Horse Challenge is a major fund-raiser for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, which needs £350,000 a year in charitable donations to operate.
Rob Wild said: "The glorious weather meant it was a great weekend, despite the blisters! The Air Ambulance is a vital part of the emergency services' response to incidents such as road traffic collisions, and we were delighted to raise over £1,000 for such a worthwhile cause. Our thanks go to everyone who supported us in any way."
