Two burglars raided a corner shop for cigarettes before threatening a witness with an axe.
The pair broke into East Sands Store, Burbage, before being disturbed by a neighbour. They then made the threat before making off in a dark coloured vehicle.
Police are now appealing for any other witnesses to the incident, or anyone in the area with dashcam or doorbell footage, to come forward.
It happened overnight between March 1 and 2.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We are appealing for dash cam and doorbell footage after an aggravated burglary in Burbage on Wednesday, March 1.
“Two suspects broke into the East Sand Store and stole cigarettes.
“They were disturbed by a neighbour who was then threatened with an axe, before the suspects made off in a dark coloured vehicle.
“We’d like to hear from anyone in the area that saw or captured anything suspicious between 11.30pm on Wednesday and 12.30am on Thursday.
