Two childhood friends have found success after starting a taxi business in their local town.
Wayne House and Carl Gale, both from Potterne, started A2B Taxis Devizes just over a month ago and fulfilled their dreams of becoming business owners.
Mr House was overwhelmed at the success of their first month and believes the town’s newest taxi service is going from strength to strength because of their local roots.
He said: “The first month went so well and it’s really taken off. We weren’t really expecting it to take off this quickly, so it’s been overwhelming.
“The support from friends and family has been great. Because we’re local to the area we know a lot of people of all different ages.
“We’re two quite well-known local lads which has helped. I think people are more likely to use local businesses and we get a lot of customers saying how grateful they are for our service… it’s all thanks to local support.”
Both Mr house and Mr Gale have lived in the village of Potterne since they first became friends as children.
“We were childhood friends from when we went to primary school together”, said Mr House.
“We both grew up in Potterne so we knew each other and used to play together every day, after school, in the village. We’ve been friends ever since.”
Reflecting on their decision to take the plunge from friends to business co-owners, Mr House said: “We’d never owned a business before, but we thought the time was right to take that step and become partners.
“Carl’s been doing taxying for quite a while now and I just got my license as well. We just knew there was a market for it in the area and we’ll be able to meet our customers’ needs.”
Mr House added that the business is available for long distance trips including airport and seaport runs.
He and Mr Gale are currently A2B’s only drivers, but after their promising start they are looking to expand the number of drivers and cars on their books in the future.
He added: “With the work we’re getting through we’ll be looking at taking someone on within two to three months to expand the business.”
Passengers can book a lift from either Mr House or Mr Gale by messaging the company’s Facebook page or Whatsapp, or by ringing 07425 778891.
