A car left in the River Avon by a suspected drink driver has finally been removed.
KIER, the construction company behind the nearby River Park project in The Maltings, Salisbury, posted the picture on its Facebook page.
The company had been waiting for the owner's insurance company to organise the removal, but did it themselves to avoid further delay to the River Park project.
It said: "Now that the river levels have dropped to a safe level we have removed the car that was driven into the River Avon by the Central Car Park.
"We had been waiting for the owner’s insurance company to organise this, but to avoid further delay to the works we have removed this ourselves with assistance from the Army who organised the disposal of the vehicle."
The Vauxhall Corsa was found deep in the water - with a traffic cone on the passenger seat - on January 14, and due to high water levels it had been deemed too unsafe to recover.
A 36-year-old man was subsequently arrested and failing to provide a breath test, before being charged with drink-driving.
Mr Kenroy Baptiste, 36, of Bulford Camp, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 10, and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Mr Baptiste will appear at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on Thursday, May 11.
Earlier this month, the car was also put up for sale on Facebook Marketplace.
