The Helen Straker Charity revealed they raised over £200,000 this year at a presentation in Devizes.
The charity raises money in memory of Helen Straker, who lost her 13 year battle with cancer in 2013.
The proceeds from this year’s fundraising effort were shared between RUHX, the charity wing of the Royal United Hospital in Bath, and Dorothy House Hospice Care.
A spokesperson for The Helen Straker Charity said: “Helen had been determined to do as much as possible to give everyone access to the best possible cancer care and provide the best possible end of life care, as she had herself received at Dorothy House.
“The Trustees of The Helen Straker Charity’s aims have been to keep Helen’s wishes alive and raise funds for the building of the new cancer wing at the RUH and also to donate to the remarkable Dorothy House Hospice at Winsley.”
Money was raised this year at several events including an alternative Ascot Ladies Day at Bath racecourse, an annual golf day held at Manor House Golf Club in Castle Combe and a tractorboys lunch at the Hilton in Bath.
Representatives from the chosen charities received a cheque for £100,000 each at The Bear Hotel, taking the total the charity has raised since its inception in 2002 to £900,000.
