A Chippenham pub has been awarded a platinum rating by Loo of the Year Awards 2022 inspectors.
The Bridge House in Borough Parade, a local branch of Wetherspoon, received the third-best grade that the awards give out, bettered only by a platinum plus or diamond rating.
The awards aim to highlight and improve the standards of public toilet provision across the UK.
Inspectors made unannounced visits to thousands of toilets across the UK to judge them on a variety of criteria, including décor, maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment, and overall management.
Pub manager Christopher Stevens, who has run The Bridge House for four and a half years, says that the rating is a recognition of the pride his staff take in their work.
He said: “We are delighted with the award. Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are always in excellent condition and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors.
“We’re extremely proud, the cleanliness of the toilets means a lot to people so it’s good that we can win that.”
The Loo of the Year Awards managing director, Becky Wall, added: "The toilets at The Bridge House have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained.
"The pub deserves its platinum award."
