The world famous steam train, the Flying Scotsman, is set to pass through Westbury in 2023.

You won't want to miss it if you are a railway enthusiast, (or simply a fan of all things traditional) as the iconic train chugs its way through the county on June 21.

It is set to go on a whirlwind trip leaving London Padddington, and passing the following stations:

  • Slough
  • Reading
  • Newbury Racecourse
  • Salisbury
  • Romsey
  • Southampton
  • Basingstoke
  • Reading

The train from London Paddington to Salisbury will travel outward via the Berks & Hants line through Newbury and Westbury and return via Southampton and Basingstoke.

You might even fancy riding on the iconic train, which you can do for a range of price tags.

The cheapest ticket you can get for a single adult is the standard one for £165, with the most expensive one being a premier ticket for £335.

Prices will depend on your age, and if you are travelling as a family.

The event is taking place with Railway Touring Company, and you can get tickets via Railwaytouring.net

It was not long ago that Wiltshire was treated to a visit from the train when it travelled from London Victoria to Salisbury and return on March 24.

It steamed into Sainsbury in the late morning before leaving for the capital again in the evening that day.
