Queen’s cause of death: What was happening when she died

Cause of death: “Old age”, the certificate simply states- the same cause given for Prince Philip's passing in April 2021.

At the time of the Queen's passing, a BBC Broadcast was shown outside the gates of Balmoral, where newsreaders were discussing on air whether or not the UK could expect an update from the palace in the hours to come. 

One said: "The mood is very sombre. 

"There is this serious concern brought about by the wording of the palace statement, most unusually expressing concern on the part of the Queen's doctors so clearly there has been some change in her state of health."

The doctor who certified the death at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire was Douglas Glass, who Buckingham Palace says was an "apothecary to the Queen".
