A wide range of music and art is on offer at this year's 48th anniversary Calne Music & Art Festival which begins in October.
Tickets are on sale from Thursday (September 1) for the festival, which will open on Friday, October 7 with a private viewing at 7.30pm at Marden House of the exhibition of work by local artists.
This is the start of ten days of diverse events including classical recitals, chamber groups, choirs, jazz, folk, talks and dance.
Festival president, Carole Brown, said: “The Festival aims not only to provide entertainment for the people of Calne and surrounding villages, but also to promote local musical and artistic talent.
“The Festival was inaugurated in 1974 and has grown substantially over the years, showcasing some exceptional talent, whilst reaching a wide cross section of the community.”
Opera Anywhere from Oxford are returning to perform Mozart’s ‘ The Magic Flute’ on Saturday, October 8 at 7.30pm at Marden House.
All daytime events on October 8 are free to families and will feature an Immersive Dome experience, music and craft workshops and a performance of Japanese Teiko drumming.
For the first time, the festival programme features an evening of Flamenco dance and guitar music. Flamenco Loco will provide an evening of traditional Andalusian Guitar and Flamenco dance on Friday, October 14 art 7.30pm at Marden House.
The Serenata Guitar Trio will be performing on Sunday, October 9 at 3 pm at Marden House. The trio is made up of three West of England-based performers: John Mills, Wendy Partridge and Cobie Smit.
As well as being the main concert hall venue, Marden House will be home to an exhibition of art by local amateur and professional artists and open to the public throughout the festival.
The Calne Heritage Centre will host an exhibition of the work of the artist/illustrator Chris Dunn and a photography talk by Eddy and Pam Lane on Vietnam and Cambodia.
Lunches are served in Marden House each day after the lunchtime concert, and, in the evening, there is a festival bar, coffee and cake.
