TWO parks in Chippenham have been recognised as being some of the best in the country.
John Coles Park and Monkton Park have both won a Green Flag Award.
The Green Flag Award is an international quality mark for parks and green spaces.
The scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under license from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces.
Councillor Nick Murry, Chair of the Amenities, Culture and Leisure Committee said: “It is great to hear that John Coles Park has continued to meet the high standards needed to retain this award for the 5th year running and that Monkton Park has achieved Green Flag status for the first time. Well done to all the staff involved at the Town Council for their ongoing commitment and hard work in making this happen.”
Keep Britain Tidy’s Accreditation Manager Paul Todd said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved in making both John Coles Park and Monkton Park worthy of a Green Flag Award. This award is testament to all the hard work of staff and volunteers, who do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
