Cars from every era went on show when Devizes Lions club laid on their Vintage and Classic car show.

Motor enthusiasts were treated to over 130 vehicles carefully restored to their original showroom condition by their proud owners.

Devizes Lion, Roger Stratton coordinated the event on the Green and was pleased with the turnout.

He said: “We had over one hundred vehicles register before the show and we have another 30 odd turn up for registration on the day.”

Among those was Andrew Hughes with his 1960 Austin Healey 3,000.

He said: “This is my pride and joy. “Only one hundred were made and I just love taking her to shows like this so enthusiasts can share in my enthusiasm for this sleek motor car an icon of the sixties.”

Another proud owner was Carl Wheatley of Charlton who brought his 1967 VW Devon Caravanette.

He said: “When I was backpacking in Australia years ago I bought one for when I was abroad and fell in love with her.

“When I returned to the UK I bought this 1967 model and have spent years renovating her.

“Being a split-screen model, she is quite rare and I am proud of my 10-year project to get her to this standard of restoration and to bring it out to these types of shows is a real pleasure.”

When Chippenham Paul Hall spent time working on his in-law a vintage car he caught the bug and bought a 1938 Austin 10 so he had his own car to work on.

He said: “I have affectionally called her Betsy and I have owned her for three years now and spent countless hours on her- but it’s all worthwhile when you feel you have done well to preserve a car like this.”

Taking time out from policing the streets of Devizes was off-duty PCSO Andrew Maclachlan who was showing his 1991 Mazda Mark.

He said: “This 1991 model is one of only 250 so it’s a pleasure to show it at events like this.”

One of the most unusual vehicles at the show was a 1934 Morgan Atworth. Its owner, Adam Cloute has had it for only two years and the three-wheeler with its V shape engine attracted dozens of enthusiasts at the Devizes Show.

Along with the selection of vehicles from every era were dozens of stalls selling everything from motoring memorabilia to collectables.
