A hotel in Marlborough is celebrating after being presented with three prestigious awards.
The Marlborough Hotel has just been awarded an AA Rosette Award and an AA food recommendation, as well as an AA four-star gold rating for their rooms.
The owner believes that they are now the only restaurant in the town to have an accolade and puts all of the business’ success down to his determined team.
Jason Kalen has been the landlord for ten years now and said that it has been a rollercoaster journey for them.
He said: “I’ve very much left the running of the business to my staff, and we have created what’s known as the Marlborough family… I have staff here who have also been here for ten years, which in hospitality is unheard of.”
He added that the AA had said although some of the dishes even deserve the recognition of being classed as ‘ultra-fine dining’, that they didn’t feel it was the right label for them.
Jason said: “We’d probably end up with more criticism than praise because at the end of the day we are still a pub.”
To strengthen their team spirit, Jason noted that over lockdown they had all come together to be in the building and stay connected, as well as get hands-on by renovating the inside.
