Planters and bollards in Malmesbury's high street were a bone of contention last year before their removal was eventually announced.
Brought in to help social distancing during the pandemic, they took away sought after parking spaces and they weren't popular with everyone.
These images of Malmesbury, taken between the 1960s and 1990s, show how the amount of traffic using the town centre - and demand for parking - grew.
But while fashions, cars and road layouts have changed over the years, some of the landmark buildings are still easily recognisable.
The pictures are from files stored in the Adver's archive at its Dorcan offices.
