COVID cases have risen by over 33 per cent in seven-days.
In the last seven days, 5,627 people in Wiltshire tested positive for coronavirus.
This means that the case rate per 100,000 people is 1,116.3. Last week, the same figure was 837.6 and 602.7 the week prior to that.
Last week the total number of new cases was 4,222 which means that the total number of cases has jumped by 33.2 per cent in Wiltshire.
Data from the government shows that 911 confirmed cases of the Omicron variant have been found in Wiltshire, up to December 23, 2021.

As of December 31 – 212,019 people in England have tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19 .
Of those cases, 22,321 were confirmed in the South West according to data from the UK Health Security Agency.
Since the beginning of December (522.7), the number of infections has risen by around 113.56 per cent.
Over the same period, 852,850 people in England tested positive for the virus. Several days during the Christmas period have broken daily infection records.
In Wiltshire, 416,861 (89.1 per cent) people have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

This is a rise of around one per cent on the figures from December 8, 2021.
Of those, 388,940 (83.1 per cent) of people have taken up a second dose.
And to date, 303,155 (64.8 per cent) people have received either their third dose or a booster vaccine.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 747 people in Wiltshire have died within 28 days of a positive Covid test.
Nine-hundred and forty-six people have died with Covid-19 on the death certificate.

Due to the rise in cases restrictions further restrictions have come into effect in schools.
