An appeal has been lodged over enforcement put on land in Market Lavington.

Anthony and Phillipa Rae were issued with an enforcement order by Wiltshire Council for land northwest of Bouverie Lodge on Spin Hill.

The local authority issued the enforcement as it deemed that the land in question, which it alleges was being used for residential purposes, was "unsupported by any rural employment need".

Officers said that the unauthorised development was in an unsustainable location due to it encouraging the use of private vehicle.

They added: "Furthermore, the increase of traffic at the junction located on a sharp bend will have a detrimental effect on the safety of the users of the highway.

"It is therefore considered that the increased traffic movements result in a cumulative impact that would be severe."

The notice means that the land should not be used for residential purposes and that any buildings should be demolished.

Mr and Mrs Rae have launched an appeal against the council judgement and any interested parties should contact the planning inspectorate by December 23.
