PLANS to build 48 houses on the site of a former day care centre have been submitted.
Council owned development company, Stone Circle, has put in plans to redevelop the recently demolished Ashton Centre Site on Ashton Street in Trowbridge.
On the site, Stone Circle plans to build a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties with plans for 30 per cent of those to be affordable homes.
The planning statement for the development said: “The scale and layout of the proposed development has been carefully considered in this urban location noting the existing mix of detached, semi-detached and terraced housing.
“The 48 dwellings proposed will comprise a mix of link detached, semi-detached and terraced dwellings.

“Along the boundary with Ashton Street, the design and layout of the scheme reflects the gradual transition from higher density residential development to that of the suburban post war-era.”
“The proposed mix of 2, 2.5 and 3 storey heights will also respect and be consistent with Ashton Street and the locality.
“Hedges, stonewalls and timber fences will form boundaries between the road and the properties.”
