ST JOHN CARE TRUST
If you are looking for a meaningful and rewarding career, then you may want to consider a role in care. In this piece OSJCT explore the benefits of a career in their care homes.
Pia, a former long haul cabin crew member, is now an OSJCT carer. After a lengthy career with British Airways, she was made redundant when the pandemic brought the travel industry to a halt. Pia took the opportunity to choose a new career with OSJCT to suit her caring and compassionate nature. As a natural team player, Pia quickly fitted in to one of the Trust’s busy and friendly care homes. She said:
“I feel very at home in the care home, and I love listening to residents’ stories.”
Benefits of working in an OSJCT care home
Get qualifications on the job: You don’t need to have care qualifications when you join OSJCT. You will receive training when you start, leading to your care certificate. If you are already experienced in care, a role at OSJCT will keep you up to date with best practice and evolving techniques in your field. You will have access to training diplomas with nationally recognised qualifications, including apprenticeships.
Work flexible hours: We offer flexible shifts which can fit around family, study, or social commitments.
Get paid to be sociable: Our homes are vibrant communities where our teams take pride in providing activities, entertainment, and top-notch food for our residents, liaising with family members, and spending time getting to know our residents.
Do something meaningful and rewarding: You’re helping someone in need and making their lives that little bit easier. And knowing that you make a difference to their day provides a real sense of achievement that’s difficult to experience in any other role.
Benefits: As part of our team, your health and wellbeing are very important to us. You will have access to a range of resources, like our 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme and ‘My Reward’ which offers substantial retail and leisure discounts.
OSJCT also offers pay enhancements, service-related annual leave, competitive pension schemes, a free uniform, DBS checks and PIN registration for nurses.
Are you a ‘hidden hero’? If you’re a naturally kind and compassionate person who wants to have a positive impact on people’s lives – like Pia – join our team of ‘hidden heroes’.
