AROUND 150 bikers from all over Wiltshire and surrounding counties descended on the Chippenham Pit Stop on Sunday as the starting point for their day’s ride in honour of the NHS.
They were among some 12,000 riders from all over the UK taking part in simultaneous rides of respect to honour all the tremendous work of the NHS.
Pit Stop general manager Lee Fenn said it had been simply amazing to see so many bikers at the Pit Stop just off junction 17 of the M4.
“Naturally all our catering crew were rushed off their feet preparing and serving up a special biker’s bacon and egg bap,” but I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience,” he said.
Joint organiser Brian Waymont said riders completed a two-hour, 60-mile circuit encompassing Chippenham, Calne, Lyneham, Royal Wootton Bassett and Sutton Benger.
“We were raising funds for NHS charities, Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the charity Brighter Futures for Children and are hoping to make our ride an annual event,” he said.
