TEENAGE streetlight enthusiast has captured more than 10,000 images of lights across the county.
Chippenham resident, Cameron Hutcheson, 19, has had an interest in street lighting from childhood .
After realising that the Wiltshire Council was in the midst of a two-year programme to replace all streetlights he started a project of snapping pictures across the county to record the diversity.
Cameron has now amassed more than 10,000 images detailing the history of street lighting and is working to capture the remaining lights before the council’s LED replacement scheme is complete in November.

After a chance meeting with Cameron’s mum, Sarah Hutcheson, the council’s traffic and network manager Joanne Heal, became aware of the project and that Cameron would like to own one of the older lamps.
Cameron was given a customised version of his favourite Thorn Gamma 6 Streetlight – which after years had become brittle. After learning of Cameron’s passion Ringway engineers tried for several months before finally managing to remove one intact and a member of staff undertook to convert it to a lamp.
Ringway divisional manager, Mick Buckler said: “We were proud to meet and present to Cameron with a customised version of his favourite Thorn Gamma 6 lantern.
“The one-off piece is a result of resourceful reclamation work by Ringway street lighting supervisor Andy Butlin.”

Andy volunteered his time out of hours to create the custom piece as a memento for Cameron’s project.
Cabinet member for street scene, Dr Mark McClelland said: “It’s fair to say Cameron and his mum have travelled far and wide over the last two years, cataloguing the different types of lighting in the county and creating a unique and fascinating record of the history of Wiltshire street lighting.
“After November Wiltshire's streetlights will be far more uniform, with only Heritage lamps remaining. The majority of street lighting will be replaced with more energy efficient and environmentally friendly LED lighting.”
