The Wharf Theatre, in Devizes, is proud to present its next event listing: Jesus Christ Superstar.
The show made its debut on Broadway in 1971 and remains an audience favourite. Loosely based on the Gospel accounts of the last week of Jesus’ life the show begins with his arrival in Jerusalem and ends with the crucifixion. Much of the plot centres on Judas who is dissatisfied with the direction in which Jesus is leading his disciples. Judas fears that the compassionate movement has become a personality cult with many of Jesus’ statements being used and twisted by his followers.
Tickets can be purchased by ringing 03336 663 366; from the website Wharftheatre.co.uk and at the Devizes Community Hub and Library on Sheep Street.
Directed by John Winterton the show, by arrangement with The Really Useful Group Ltd, will run from September 10-September 18 at 7.30pm.
