A landmark pub near Chippenham is reopening this weekend – with a new name.

The Pewsham is the new identity of what was the Lysley Arms, on the A4 to the east of the town.

The grade two listed pub, which dates back to 1755, has been closed for a major facelift.

It is being run by former RAF physical training instructor Chris Warburton, and has its own coffee shop under the same roof.

The pub – which has also gone under the name of the Swan in the past - officially reopens on Sunday, when it is fully booked for lunch.

Among the beers on sale are Gem, Doom Bar and Tribute.

The venue has a large garden and external seating area, but for its first day has restricted food bookings to its inside tables.

A message on its Facebook page said: “Hi everyone, thanks so much for the interest. Our social media, emails and phone have been so busy! We are now fully booked.

"Thank you to everyone that took an interest, and we are sorry we have no other spaces available, but we hope to see you soon.”
