The Great Balloon Race Extravaganza has been cancelled.
Organisers confirmed today (August 2) that several key suppliers had been 'pinged' by the NHS Track and Trace app.
As a result, the decision was made to cancel their events at both the Charlton Park Estate in Malmesbury and at Bolesworth Castle in Chester.
It is hoped that a new venue and dates can be found - although many ticket-holders have raised concerns about refunds.
Posting on Facebook, organisers wrote: "The safety and security of our guests is of utmost importance to us and our suppliers and contractors which have received these notifications are integral to the safe operation of the Great Balloon Race. This combined with the current weather forecast for coming weekend means our guest safety could not be guaranteed.
"At such short notice it would be impossible for us to source suitable replacement suppliers that would satisfy the requirements of our venue licenses or provide the level of quality that we would want to deliver at our events."
The Great Balloon Race Extravaganza had already been moved from Bowood House to Malmesbury’s Charlton Park Estate.
Originally scheduled for July 2-4, the event was pushed back to the weekend of August 13-15.
The event was to feature a line up of aerial acts, balloons and displays and live music.
