Here are your views and opinions on our top read stories online this week.

People echoed the views of Stephen Ellis, who said the £7 million spent on Sadlers Mead car park in Chippenham could have gone to “countless” other projects.

Only five cars were spotted in the vast multi-story there last Saturday - with the council urged to do more to encourage more people to use it.

Rosemary Penny: Why would anyone want to come to Chippenham now it’s not the lovely market town of my childhood it’s been totally spoilt by bad planning decisions.

Jo Corbett: I’ve used it once. It was a really hot day. I just wanted a parking spot in the shade. Otherwise I wouldn’t choose to park there.

Giorgia Nyman: Didn’t even know it was built. I certainly wouldn’t park there, it is not accessible for disabled and chronically unwell people. You’re right on top of a hill, not close enough to the town centre at all. Waste of money in my opinion. Should have put the £7 million towards mental health services!

Jemma Clark: Maybe it’s time to consider extending the town using the bath road car park or finally doing the development that was stated in the Wiltshire Core plan on the bridge centre roundabout. So many car parks for a town with limited retail prospects. The town itself needs considerable development to accommodate the use of all our parking.

Sarah Harris: Emery Gate underground car park has barely been half full for a long time too. No worries about finding a space at all.

Sarah Hughes: The main issue is the total lack of shops in town to start with that don’t warrant a £1.10 charge per hour! And as for the Olympiad, with a pathetic 3 family swim sessions available a week I can’t even get in! Pointless.

Susan Morgan: The council didn’t ask lone women if they would use it. I certainly wouldn’t. I’d rather drive further away and walk a bit than park here. What a waste of money and an eyesore at that.

Keira Culverhouse-Newman: Total waste of money! Not needed or wanted! Why would we need it? There is nothing here. Why don’t you do something useful and build a free outdoor gym? Corsham Calne and Melksham all have them!

Ashleigh Tristram: They won’t park in there now the traffic lights at the bottom of station hill means it could take 20 mins to get from the car park to the bottom!

Samantha Davies: I use it once a week to take mu daughter swimming. It’s full if teens hanging out and college kids using it as a race track. The lift and stairs smell so strongly of weed, the stairs as covered it litter and there are quite often puddles that look like blood and urine. It’s horrible

Keith Larkworthy: A £7 million skate park. Although from the screeching tyres heard last night I think they might be filming the next instalment of the fast and furious franchise there. Did anyone see Vin diesel at station hill fish and chip shop?

Many shared their views and their shock on Cuneyt Ascioglu, of Speedy Chef in Warminster, who faces 12 charges relating to breaching food hygiene regulations - including not controlling pests and flies.

Stuart Seear: “But your honour, it’s a kebab!” The Defence rests.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

Andrew Purse: Of course it’s unfit for human consumption it’s a kebab shop.

Maureen Davies: OMG Smells so nice when you pass by.

Mary Thurlow: Ought to close the place down.

Jerry Watson: Don’t they own the one at Trowbridge train station?

Five years ago the Vote Leave campaign took a victory in Wiltshire after securing 52.4 per cent of the county vote – mirroring the UK figures.

We asked our online readers, “Five years on would you still vote for Brexit?”

Our poll received hundreds of responses, with the majority saying “I voted out and would still do so” followed by “I voted remain and would still do so”then “I voted out but would now vote remain” and, with the lowest number of votes, “I voted remain but would now vote out.”

Jak Edgley: Farmers and fisherman being decimated by Brexit yet everyone still sticks with Leave, will never understand.

Geraldine Mckibbin: I would still vote the same - STAY.

Jeff Kirk: Out without a doubt as EU have now shown their real colours.
