More than 800 Covid fines have been handed out by Wiltshire Police since the start of the pandemic.
The force has doled out 885 fixed penalty notices to people who have been found in breach of Covid regulations, it has been revealed.
On June 21, the government hopes to remove the legal limits on social contact which means there will no longer be restrictions on how many people can meet in or outdoors.

Until then, the police have urged people to continue to follow the guidance in place. This message was reinforced with the upcoming EURO 2021 tournament – during which the Covid rules could change.
A spokesman for the force said: “While we await an update from the government on the further easing of restrictions, we would encourage everyone to ensure they understand the current ongoing rules and do everything they can to keep themselves and others safe.
“We are working hard to ensure we have comprehensive plans in place to cope with the expected increase in demand on emergency services over the summer.”
