After years of successful youth productions, standing ovations and encores - a new Youth Theatre will soon officially launch in Wiltshire.
The Wharf Theatre has produced a vast array of youth productions in the past, including the hugely successful Legally Blonde Junior in the summer of 2019.
To safeguard the future of the world of theatre, the Wharf says it is vital to inspire and encourage the next generation.
Two youth theatre directors and are now in a position to officially launch The Wharf Youth Theatre, with sessions due to start in September..
Lou Cox will lead up the Senior Actors Company, for school years 10-13. Lou’s career highlights include theatre tours, the Edinburgh Festival, singing professionally at Glastonbury festival and stand-up comedy. There will be opportunities for students to compete in performance festivals, perform a live play to a paid audience and, most importantly, have fun.
Meanwhile, a Junior Actors Company will also kick off in September. This group is for school years 6-9, and will be led by Lucia Pupilli. Lucia studied at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and has worked professionally in various theatre and film productions including ‘White collar hooligans’ directed by Paul Tanter in Rio de Janeiro and ‘His and Hers’ directed by Lisa Spirling at The Egg theatre in Bath.
The junior actors will be having fun at our theatre workshops, building confidence and gaining skills through drama, games and improvisations.
They will rehearse and perform scenes from plays and devise our own. The aim is also to put on an annual show as the group progresses. For more information, email artisticdirector@wharftheatre.co.uk
