Chippenham MP Michelle Donelan has been asked to investigate bullying by two most senior people at Imperial College in London, who have kept their jobs despite being found guilty.

Ms Donelan, who is Universities Minister, says the matter is now being looked into by the Office for Students.

Imperial College is one of the World's leading science universities and has been at the forefront of Covid advice and research. A legal investigation found both the president - one of the highest paid in academia - and the chief financial officer guilty of bullying senior staff, and comes just weeks after Home Secretary Priti Patel escaped the charge with an apology.

“There is no place for any form of harassment or bullying at our universities, and the higher education regulator, the Office for Students, is considering information regarding Imperial College London, in line with their normal processes." said Michele.

“Universities are responsible for their own staffing decisions, but must comply with the law and should have effective harassment and bullying procedures in place to support staff and students.”

The OfS does not comment on individual cases.
