POLICE found £14,000-worth of cannabis in a man’s shed.
And when officers scoured Ieuan Davies’s Chippenham outhouse they also discovered a mobile phone linking the owner to the supply of drugs.
Appearing before Swindon Crown Court on Friday, Davies, 29, of Sidney Wood Court, Chippenham, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis.
However, barrister Zara Walker said her client was pleading to the charge on a basis that he was looking after the drugs for another.
Prosecutor Susan Cavender asked for time to check whether that basis was acceptable to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Judge Peter Crabtree granted Davies unconditional bail for a sentencing hearing on a date to be fixed. If the Crown does not accept his basis of plea, Davies may have to give evidence at a court hearing – called a Newton Hearing – to establish his level of involvement in supplying class B drugs.
