Some of Wiltshire’s libraries are allowed to keep the county reading over the winter lockdown with a click and collect service.
The libraries in Amesbury, Bradford on Avon, Calne, Malmesbury, Marlborough, Melksham, Royal Wootton Bassett and Westbury are to offer a click and collect service and bookable computers – just as they have done since they were allowed to reopen.
From Monday, November 9 Chippenham, Devizes, Salisbury, Trowbridge and Warminster libraries will offer the same services.
Corsham and Tidworth are not currently able to open but this is under review.
Cricklade, Mere, Pewsey, Tidworth and Wilton libraries will be closed until after the restrictions have been lifted.
Aldbourne, Box, Downton, Durrington, Ludgershall, Lyneham, Market Lavington, Netheravon, Purton, Ramsbury and Tisbury, which haven’t yet reopened since the pandemic started, will remain closed until further notice.
The council’s mobile library service, which only got back on the road recently, will also not be operating at present but this will be regularly reviewed.
All items currently borrowed, that were due back from November 9 onwards, will continue to be automatically renewed.
All libraries offering this service will follow social distancing and COVID-19 secure guidelines.
Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, cabinet member for libraries, said: “Our libraries team continues to innovate and adapt during this difficult period, and are committed to ensuring they can provide some services while the restrictions are in place
“A good selection of books will certainly help people and momentarily whisk their imagination away from some of the stresses of life.”
Further information about order and collect, including how to place an order and book a computer, can be found at https://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/libraries-order-collect.
People must book a computer in advance of attending.
