Among recent cases heard before Swindon and Wiltshire magistrates are:
Trowbridge: Olivian Mahai, 43, of Tudor Drive has had his case for speeding and driving without insurance on Elizabeth Way adjourned so the court can get a Romanian interpreter He pleaded guilty.
Devizes: Stuart Penny, 36, of Mayenne Place, has been remanded on bail for a case management hearing. He denies harassment of another man by making numerous phone calls, text messages and voice mails as well as driving to the addresses of two women. He has been placed under curfew, tagged and told to keep away from Tisbury, Amesbury and Salisbury. He also denies damaging a car and a motorbike, and pleads not guilty to stealing some chickens and a tractor.
Trowbridge: The case against Dafydd Bargery, 36, of Jenkins Street, has been remanded on conditional bail until October 23 as he has Covid related symptoms. He is accused of assault and actual bodily harm and being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He has been told to keep away from The Lamb pub in Trowbridge and from the other prosecution witnesses.
Staverton: Michael Killen, 47, of Maunder Drive, admitted drink-driving and was given an interim disqualification from driving while a pre-sentence report is prepared.
Trowbridge: Lee Newman, 28, of Heather Shaw, admitted driving while under the influence of drugs. He had an illegal dose of benzoylecgoninne in his blood and was fined £420 with a £42 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and drink-driving and was disqualified from driving for 40 months.
Melksham: Matthew Gore, 42, of Littlejohn Avenue changed his plea to guilty after being accused of possessing 22 prohibited images of a child. His case was committed to Swindon Crown Court for trial.
Corsham: Cameron Brown has pleaded guilty to stealing alcohol from Sainsburys, stealing £1,960 from David Broom, and stealing and using stolen bank cards. The 21-year-old from Queens Avenue also admitted stealing £60 worth of washing power from the Co-op. He has been bailed for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
Trowbridge: Craig Goldsworthy, 30, of Downside Park has been sent for trial by jury at Swindon Crown Court accused of ill treatment, neglect and assault of a child.
Trowbridge: Mariusz Kaminski, 36, of Mascroft Road, has been sent for trial accused of intending to pervert the course of justice by exposing individuals to risk of arrest and wrongful conviction. He is also accused of fraudulently taking £1,650 belonging to a woman. He has been told to stay away from that woman until the case, and has been bailed.
Chippenham: James Lait, 22, of River House, has pleaded guilty to damaging a window pane worth £5,000 and has been remanded on bail for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
Royal Wootton Bassett: Mark Harper, 23, of Blenheim Court has been given a community order after admitting possessing 170 grams of cocaine with intent to supply it. He has to carry out unpaid work for 60 hours in the next 12 months. He also admitted possessing an amount of cannabis.
Melksham: Aaron Bishop, 31, of no fixed address, has been jailed for 16 weeks concurrently for admitting to a repeated pattern of domestic abuse, His overall sentence is 26 weeks for the assault and harassment of a woman, to whom he made up to 75 phone calls and sent 40 messages in two hours. He also has to obey a restraining order not contact the woman concerned, or to go to Melksham, until October 2023.
Westbury: Jason Richards, 47, of Sycamore Grove has been found guilty of carrying a knife in a public place. He has been bailed to await sentencing.
Calne: Zak Coombs, 18, of Atcherley Road has been sent to Swindon Crown Court for sentencing after he admitted supplying cannabis. He also admitted possessing amphetamine.
Calne: Kyle Knight, 24, of Martin Way, was fined £120 with £35 costs and a surcharge of £32 after admitting driving under the influence of drugs and was disqualified from driving for 12 months.
