Swindon Town are playing the waiting game as the consortium attempting to buy the club are set to complete due diligence.
The final details are expected to be ironed out within 24 hours and the group, led by Ramsbury businessman Andrew Fitton, will then decide whether to proceed with the purchase.
Non-executive director Bob Holt said: "They have taken away all the information they need and there should be nothing which comes as a surprise. It is now their decision to see if they want to step forward."
Fitton, who has been involved with failed deals to buy the Robins three times before, has asked fans to be tolerant during the process.
"We are trying to make sure there is success off the field but we need patience and understanding," he said.
"We made an agreement, subject to due diligence, and hopefully the situation is what we thought it was.The club needs to be stabilised."
The takeover could be completed in two weeks.
Swindon have been hit with a Football League transfer embargo as they owe other clubs a reported £50,000 from the sale of away tickets. Manager Paul Sturrock will be unable to add to his injury hit squad until it is resolved. Defenders Ady Williams, Jack Smith, Jamie Vincent and Jerel Ifil are all out of Saturday's home clash with Doncaster Rovers.
Town are losing £100,000 a month and former investor Bill Power is ready to take them to court next week for £1.2 million he claims he lent the club.
