Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council was honoured with a national Quality Gold Award during the impressive Civic Service at St Bartholomew's Church.
The award affirms that the Town Council is at the forefront of best practice and excellence in communal leadership, governance and council development.The theme of the service, organised by the Mayor Steve Watts, celebrated community and youth - expressed in words, by the Mayor, Town Crier Owen Collier and the Rev Canon Jane Curtis, and in songs and musical items performed by the Tuneless Choir, Lee Clarke-Butler and Mark Aitchiso, and Wessex Male Choir.
The civic service, a popular annual event, was followed by refreshments in the church. Donations will benefit the Mayor's chosen charity, The Richard Jones Foundation, a local educational trust that was established over 300 years ago to benefit the town's young people.
