Swindon Town have been slapped with a transfer embargo by the Football League because of unpaid football bills.
The outstanding money is cash owed to clubs from the sale of away tickets but non executive director Bob Holt is confident the situation will be sorted quickly.
He said: "It will be resolved in a very short time and we don't expect any problems in the long term running of the football club."
Manager Paul Sturrock will be unable to bring players into the club until the matter is resolved but has vowed to carry on.
"It's a difficult scenario for everybody because there are areas of the team we would like to strengthen but we are unable to.
"As I have said before we will soldier on and there are plenty of teams working under these circumstances."
The embargo is just one of the problems the Robins have faced this year.
They are losing £100,000 a month and have already seen one takeover bid fail.
But Town are in negotiations with another consortium, led by Ramsbury based businessman Andrew Fitton, and expect due diligence to be completed by the end of the week.
Holt said: "I had a meeting with the potential investors yesterday and it was a deep and meaningful conversation, I told them our thoughts and they told me theirs.
"They have taken away all the information they need and there should be nothing which comes as a surprise.
"It is then their decision to see if they want to step forward."
