A woman who threw a glass in a pub which hit another drinker on Boxing Day has been warned she could face a jail term.

Kerry Ward pleaded guilty to a charge of actual bodily harm when she appeared before a judge at Swindon crown court.

The 29-year-old hurled the glass which hit victim Jayne Hampson on Tuesday December 26 last year.

Ward, of Elm Hayes, Corsham pleaded guilty to a charge of actual bodily harm.

Alex Daymond, defending, said "Essentially the allegation is that this defendant threw a glass across a pub causing superficial lacerations."

He said it had been suggested that there had been some pushing of the glass into the victim but said the gravamen of the offence was the throwing.

Recorder Neil Ford QC adjourned the case to Friday November 23 and ordered a pre-sentence report be compiled by the probation service.

He said "The fact that I am continuing your bail is no indication of the sentence you are likely to receive in due course, all options will remain available."
