Juniuor footballers will gather at Ballards Ash in Wootton Bassett tomorrow for a memorial game in memory of Bob and Deb Fry.

Mr Fry, 53, ran the B team of Brinkworth Cats Football Club with friend Mark Luffman.

His son George has played in the team for two years.

Friend Alex Dinsmore, who lost his mum Jean in the same incident that claimed the lives of the Frys, plays for Lydiard Youth - the Cats' opposition at Sunday's match.

The nine-year-olds go to St Bartholomew's Primary School in Wootton Bassett with many their team mates.

The Cats and Lydiard Youth were scheduled to play at Supermarine in South Marston this weekend but after hearing of Bob's tragic death they decided to bring the fixture to Wootton Bassett.

Cats' club secretary Paul Gerrish said: "We decided to go ahead with the match as a mark of respect to Bob.

"Our prime concern as a club is in the interests of the families involved and of course George and his sister Rosie.

"We want to do what Bob would have wanted, and do it right. He was a man of passion, dignity, high morals and most of all a good bloke'."

Paul's son, player Ben Gerrish, nine, said: "When we heard what happened to George's mum and dad we didn't want to play but then we thought, if Bob was here he'd want us to.

"He was a really nice guy and loved football. We all really liked him and we will miss him lots."

The event will start at 1pm with a minute of applause in tribute to the keen sportsman.

Player Zak Smith, nine, said: "We're sad that George can't play in the match but we will be thinking of him the whole time."

The youngsters will all wear black armbands to mark the occasion.

Mr Gerrish said: "Bob always helped out, whether it was putting up goals, entertaining the parents with his unique sense of humour arranging social events."
