A proposal for new homes in Gastard has caused concern among those living nearby.
Hannick Homes has applied to North Wiltshire District Council for permission to build 11 new homes at a site in lanes End in the village.
The proposal has brought about mixed feelings in the village as locals believe the land, which is next to the Travis Perkins builders merchants, is unsuitable to build on.
Previous applications have been refused because the land is right next to an underground quarry that creates a lot of dust.
Michael Morgan, who lives opposite the site, said: " A few years ago we were told it is either the quarry or the houses and that it wasn't practical to have both.
"I have no objections to them building there. I just don't see how environmental health will allow it."
County Councillor Peter Davis said: "The site is not suitable for the quarry and the homes. They were told to either dig out the quarry and build houses or leave the quarry. Not both."
The plans are being considered by officers at North Wiltshire District Council.
