I popped into the gaffer's house on Tuesday night with the lads to watch the Rangers v Barcelona game.

He has just finished doing it up and always said he would have everyone round when it was done.

A few of us had gone out for food before so we'd had something but the gaffer had laid on a good spread of pizza and hot dogs.

But Jerel was pleased because he goes nowhere without good.

He did a good job but is very precious about his carpets, we all had to take our shoes off and not spill anything.

Although Kaid spilt a beer on the table so he's in the doghouse.

It's good to get together because we have got a few travellers, like myself and Kaid, but one thing about this squad is togetherness.

We have a wives and players outing every so often and I think we are trying to sort another one out soon, so there is a good balance to the team off the pitch.

Having a good spirit away from football helps us when we train and play and hopefully that was evident in the 1-0 over Tranmere on Saturday.

It wasn't an outstanding game but it was a good team effort against a side at the top of the league.

It means we have scored ten goals in three games with nine coming from strikers.

We didn't hit the heights of previous games but a 1-0 win can bring us down to earth and show us we are not going to score five or six every game.

We've proved we can dig deep and get the result. 1-0 is not going to get you any more points than 4-0 and it helps us focus for the game against Port Vale on Saturday.

They are down the wrong end of the table and if we don't go into the game with the right attitude and focus we are going to get caught out.

There are some fun sides to being a footballer though, like the banter and tricks we can get up to away from the games.

My hair is still bleached which was just for the banter. It was JP's birthday and he said to me, do you want to go blonde?' Anyone who knows me knows I don't know asking twice but I quite like it.

It makes me stand out - whether that is a good or bad thing I don't know.

I went into the barbers to have my hair cut yesterday so I'm keeping it and I was also let loose around the shop.

I was saying last week I was interested in journalism after football but running a salon is also something I am considering.

It would be something different and something which appeals to me.

I was just allowed to have a look around and about how everything works, they didn't let me anywhere near people's hair. That would not have been pretty.
