Chippenham: Land to be developed in Langley Burrell by Barratt Homes will have a sub station built to provide safe electricity to homes at the new site. The addition to a new housing site was confirmed to be of an entirely typical scale and size and appearance.
Chippenham: A former workshop will be transformed into a one bedroomed house after the building stopped being used and became redundant. Previous applications had refused planning at The Smithy in East Tytherton due to plans to expand the building by adding a conservatory style room to make it larger. However objections were raised to the idea as it would have been built on the only garden or parking space with the home. Neighbours raised concerns about privacy to the old application but withdrew concerns for the new altered plans.
Malmesbury: A bungalow on Haddons Close is set to get a face lift after planning permission was granted to expand the home on three sides. The roof will also be raised to make room in the loft for an extra bedroom. Previous plans had approved a move to demolish the whole building and build a new house but applicants changed their minds and submitted the now approved plans to extend the building. No objections were raised. Planners working for the owners said: “The extensions and rendering will turn a tired looking1960s bungalow into an attractive 1.5 storey dwelling which will be in harmony with the streetscene and the character and appearance of Haddons Close and it will be of a similar height and scale to its immediate neighbours.”
Lacock: (Pictured) Extensive building work at Lackham College has been given the green light by planners. In a statement the college said: “Wiltshire College’s Lackham Campus has received little investment over the past 10 years. The College has identified the Lackham Campus for investment and enhancement. This will be delivered via a range of improvements. The enhancement to the Campus will enable growth of student numbers, improve infrastructure across the campus and in turn contribute to skills development within the local area. The project is enabled by funding from the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) and will lead to an array of social and economic benefits for the local region.” A new hub will be built for students to arrive and spend time in and a new agri tech building will comprise of main campus reception, laboratories, a new conference suite and an IT ‘activity wall’. The animal care centre will also refurbished, with certain enclosures demolishes and replaced with new buildings. A Lemur Enclosure will be built as well as new aviaries and enclosures designed for otters, marmosets, ferrets and macaws.
Malmesbury: A Biomass Boiler will be built at Whatley Barn in Twatley. The barn forms part of Whatley Manor hotel, a Grade II Listed Building Listed under Historic England. Planners allowed the boiler to be approved retrospectively after applicant Sue Williams said: “The self contained Biomass Boiler enclosure built on the side of the Whatley Barn and subject of this application , supplies the staff accommodation with heating and hot water. Demand for heat and hot water exceeds the amounts that a smaller conventional boiler could supply and is a green way to cater for the reasonable amount of energy consumption needed. The boiler enclosure, is reasonably secluded behind the Coach House itself, has a thin “shed like” foundation slab and is fully reversible at any time.”
Trowbridge: Brokerswood Farm Shop will now get a cafe after planning permission was approved to convert an outbuilding. retrospective permission has also been granted to approve the farm shop that had already been set up on the site without full permission in 2016. Neighbour Alan Appleby said: "I support the application as I think it is a good use of a redundant farm building and would support the farm shop. The second access is already in use by farm machinery so would not have a great impact."
Melksham: The building where The Wiltshire Youth Offending Team had occupied will now be turned into housing at the build in the Martins on Spa road.
Royal Wootton Bassett: Solar Panels will be added to the roofs of a new hotel on the site of The Churchill on Swindon Road. The PV cells will be attached to the southern side of the roof and create electricity for the building. In January 2019, planning permission was approved for the erection of a two-storey hotel.
