Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock was happy to see his side pick up three points despite a below-par display in the 1-0 win over Tranmere on Saturday.

Substitute Barry Corr climbed off the bench to mark his return from a six-month injury lay-off with a late winner against Rovers at the County Ground.

And Sturrock said: "Obviously I am delighted with the win. I think the lay off made us look sluggish and I don't think we got our training right this week.

"We did not show the zest we showed against Gillingham but saying that we were playing against a very difficult side who are a big strong side and I can see why they win football games.

"I am delighted for big Baz getting that goal for the club.

"It has been a lottery all week. We have not had a settled 11 to pick from all week.

"Hasney and Nicho were late decisions with very little work done them one.

"I must congratulate them because they were absolutely fantastic to get through the 90 minutes.

"Peacock has been injured as well and he gave us an hour before he had to come off.

"We have been the lame and lousy all week but today shows the temperament of the players. They have rolled their sleeves up and got the result.

"Over the 90 minutes we probably just shaded it.

"I thought the game could go like Yeovil. We were knocking on the door and they could have hit back but we probably had it go for us.

"The goal was a fantastic flick by Barry, JP swings the ball in and lo and behold Barry has made a 45-yard run, which shows how keen the lad is and how he wants to score goals and he finishes it. It is a lesson for anyone who wants to score goals.

"They played 4-3-3 and it was difficult for our full backs.

"I did not feel we were getting the ball wide quick enough and when we did I did not feel we were positive enough with it. "For 10 to 15 minutes we matched up but changed it back and the substitutes proved effective.

"If it was the second last game of the season I would be highly delighted with that result and where we are.

"But we have a long way to go. We have a lot of injuries which will take their toll and suspensions will kick in sooner or later, so if we keep winning our home games and doing well away you are going to be in there.

"I am delighted for everyone because I do feel Tranmere will be one of those teams there or thereabouts at the sharp end and it was nice to know we competed with them and never looked out of sorts with them.

"It meant we are showing competitiveness in this league."
