Three collisions in two weeks have angered people in Derry Hill after their plea for speed limits was rejected by Wiltshire County Council.

On Tuesday evening a three car pile up at Studley Road crossroads blocked the road for an hour.

Last Friday three cars were involved in a collision at the notorious crossroads.

And just seven days earlier two cars caused massive rush hour delays after they collided.

Calne Without Parish Council has asked for more speeding restrictions on the crossroads, currently 60mph.

But the county rejected the plea, saying it plans to slow down cars by making the crossroads into a junction .

Highways manager Tim Jones said: "We will install a ghost island which is a turning point for vehicles."

It would not be possible to look at speed limits on any paricular roads until a countywide review is complete.

Chair of Calne Without Ed Jones said: "We think its absolutely horrendous there are no plans for any speeding controls. We are horrified.

"It's absolutely necessary on a dangerous road like this to have speed limits. What will it take for the council to put restrictions on the road?"
