Students at Malmesbury School have been keeping alive the memory of teacher Sasha Basak by continuing to support Green Ribbon Month.

The cause is designed to promote peace, unity and hope between all people, regardless of religion, beliefs or culture.

Miss Basak, 26, who was found dead in Bristol in February, was a strong supporter of Green Ribbon Month.

Her tutor group wanted to promote it again this year and have been making ribbons for pupils and staff to wear.

They have also erected a large pillar in the main corridor for people to write positive messages on.

English teacher Aimi Bisco, who helped the group organise the month's events, said: "Because of the positive nature of the message, the whole form didn't want it to fade away.

"The students have been phenomenal and responded to it more than we could ever have thought possible.

"More than half of them have been wearing ribbons and they are just so positive about it.

"They were really focused on this not being something sad and they wanted to continue the positive work they and Miss Basak had started."

The school is also launching a bid for Fair Trade Status, which Miss Basak keenly supported.

Miss Basak, who lived in Bristol, had taught maths at the school since 2004.

She was tutor of a Year 9 group when she died and was described at the time as a lovely, caring person and gifted teacher."

The inquest into her death is not expected to be held before next year.
