Children from Frogwell School in Chippenham are to continue with their stay at centre on the Isle of Wight despite being involved in a coach crash yesterday.

Head teacher at Frogwell Primary School Avis Ball, said: "Pupils from Frogwell Primary School aged 10 and 11 were on an educational activity holiday at the Kingswood Centre on the Isle of Wight.

"Following an incident yesterday all the people involved were taken to St Mary's Hospital where they were checked, three children and one adult were treated for minor injuries.

"Our main priority is always the welfare of the children and all the children's parents have been informed about what has happened and we are keeping them updated.

"At the present time there are no plans to return early as the children are keen to complete their trip; there will be a review if necessary.

"We feel it would be inappropriate to comment further on this incident as there is an ongoing police investigation."

The coach collided with a hedge near Brading on the Isle of Wight yesterday at around 1.50pm, while carrying a party from Frogwell Junior School.

The three youngsters suffered minor injuries and were taken to St Mary's Hospital on the Isle of Wight by ambulance.

The remaining 22 other children and three teachers were taken separately to hospital as a precaution according to a police spokeswoman.

The accident occurred at the junction of Bullys Hill and The Mall and the road was closed for around three hours while the scene was cleared.
