There has been far too much written about Town's off-pitch position recently without much action to justify it. The season could go from appealing to appalling in one news announcement.

Finally on Tuesday afternoon the club confirmed the Portuguese investors had disappeared back to Lisbon.

But the news was not that all those Euros had vanished, rather that a new mysterious business partner had offset some of the cash we owed HMRC and the immediate threat from the tax office had been averted.

That just leaves the council and all those others who are owed money as part of the overdue CVA settlement then. Oh, and Bill Power's £1.2m. A small sigh of relief, but hardly a huge comfort.

If the new investment really has come from a new source, it would seem reasonable to suspect that there could be more on the way. Why would anyone (other than Sir Seton) hand over what must surely be six figures, just to risk waving it goodbye shortly afterwards?

So, is it just another loan from the usual source?

Any regular readers will know that I'm pretty much a one sport, one club man, but with Town's match with Oldham rearranged, what a Saturday of sport it turned out to be anyway.

England produced a functional result against Estonia, but comments from the studio irritated me. After Motty berated supporters for returning to their seats late for the second half, the two Alans said the 3-0 lead justified England taking their foot off the gas. Sorry guys, you can't have it both ways.

As annoying as I find it when people make me repeatedly get to me feet as they pass during a match, why is it expected the paying public should be glued to their seats while the paid performers decide whether they are going to entertain them?
