HUNDREDS of people turned out to pay their last respects to St Sampson's Primary School pupil Joanna Osztrovszky in Cricklade yesterday.

The 10-year-old was found dead at her home in North Wall on Thursday, October 4, where she lives with her mum Nicky.

Police said she had accidentally hanged herself in a tragic accident.

St Sampson's Church was packed with family and friends of the girl her headteacher Andrew Henstridge described as someone who "would always cheer you up".

Mourners dressed in her favourite colour red, to honour her love of Manchester United Football Club.

Rev Judy Ashby led the emotional service.

She said: "Joey was a tomboy and enjoyed minimotoring and football.

"Because she loved the colour red, she had to support either Liverpool or Man U. Manchester United became her team.

"Joey's friends have written prayers and letters for her around the church and they speak of her cheerfulness, cheeky smile and kindness.

"They describe her as thoughtful and funny and a great friend."

Rev Ashby added: "Joey was small, but she had a very big heart and she will be desperately missed.

"However, we know that there is a very special place for her in heaven - as our Bible reading said, children are at the very centre of life in the kingdom'."

Mourners sang the hymn Morning Has Broken.

Joanna's mum lit a baptism candle for her daughter.

Some of her friends read the poem "Do not stand at my grave and weep" and the Bible reading was Mark 10:13-16.
