Peter Balcombe, 47, was this afternoon found guilty of murder in a unanimous verdict by the jury at Bristol Crown Court.
He had pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife Eunice on December 21 last year.
But the jury of eight men and four women found him guilty soon after returning to the court room after the lunch recess today.
The court heard he had previous convictions for grevious and actual bodily harm.
