A MAN was rescued by ambulance crews after jumping in the River Avon in Chippenham yesterday morning.
The man jumped from a bridge near the Olympiad Leisure Centre and was dragged from the water by ambulance crews after a passer by spotted the man struggling in the river.
Ambulance crews were called and took the man to Royal United Hospital in Bath.
It is not known if the jump was a suicide attempt.
Inspector Gavin Williams said: "We would like to praise the quick thinking of this member of public for being so vigilant in reporting this incident."
