Swindon Wildcats coach Peter Russell says he is ready to make changes to the Swindon Wildcats playing roster by placing several members of his team "on notice.'' Russell has taken the step, against the unnamed players, in a bid to revitalise the Cats' flagging English Premier League fortunes.
Swindon crashed to a double defeat at the weekend, a 6-1 thrashing at home by Milton Keynes Lightning being followed by a narrow 2-1 reverse at the same opponents on Sunday evening.
They were the sixth and seventh defeats in ten league and cup matches for the Link Centre side already this season - and prompted Russell into action.
Ahead of back-to-back games against the Peterborough Phantoms this weekend, Russell said: "While the clear majority of our squad are performing as we want them to, there are a couple that have not lived up to expectations.
"We need our senior players to be consistent and meet their performance targets, which a couple of them are not, and so as it stands today, changes need to be made.'' He added: "By placing those that are falling short of targets on notice, we have the option of make changes to the roster if we so choose.
"But it also gives the players involved an opportunity to step up their game.'' The Wildcats host the Phantoms on Saturday at 5.45pm.
Tickets are available from the Link Centre on 01793 445566 and online at swindonwildcats.com n FANS of Wildcats ice hockey can mingle with players and compete for the title of Champion Quizzers as the club hosts a Quiz night at the Harvester Public House in the West Swindon Centre on Friday night.
