LONGLEAZE School in Royal Wootton Bassett triumphed in the Junior Schools Quiz contest, organised by the Rotary Club of Royal Wootton Bassett & District for seven local primary schools on Monday evening.
Teams of three relished lively competition at the event, which was hosted by St Bartholomew’s Primary Academy, and attracted an appreciative audience. Questions were posed by Allison Bucknell, and results were recorded by a team of scrutineers. Topics included art and literature, food and nutrition, sport and leisure, entertainment, science and nature, music, geography and travel, history and politics, and a picture round.
Rotary president Phil Tanner, who thanked everyone involved, presented the trophy to Longleaze pupils Arlen Frapwell, Mollie Bissett and Robert Beaumont, who scored 90.5 points and won £20 each, and £20 for their school.
The runners-up, St Mary’s, Purton, scored 80, and won £10 in vouchers.
In a keen contest, scores were influenced by each team’s choice of a Joker round, which carried double points. Competitors included Broad Hinton, Broad Town, Lyneham, Noremarsh and St Bartholomew’s.
